With joy, the parish of Joy of All Who Sorrow in Indianapolis, Indiana welcomed Metropolitan Joseph on the occasion of our patronal feast, the icon of the Theotokos the Joy of All Who Sorrow. His Eminence led Vigil on Saturday, November 2 and Divine Liturgy on Sunday, November 3.
At the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence gave his blessing and presided over a change in leadership at Joy of All Who Sorrow. Archpriest Stevan Bauman was raised to the ofikion of Ikonom, one of the highest possible. At the same time, Fr. John Miller was installed as the presiding priest of Joy of All Who Sorrow, where he has been serving as assistant priest for some years. Axios!
The local clergy of Joy of All Who Sorrow, including Fr. Protodeacon Michael Walker and subdeacons and acolytes, were present. We also welcomed Fr. Jerome Sanderson and Fr. Deacon Lucian Stant from Christ the Savior mission in Nashville, Indiana. Many visitors from Nashville, Crawfordsville, and other local parishes were in attendance as well.
In his homily, Metropolitan Joseph spoke about the protection and presence of the Mother of God in our daily lives. He also emphasized that when we pray, we do so in concert with all the faithful before us.
Following the beautiful service, we took a parish photo with all the visitors to commemorate the occasion. God provided with a bountiful meal and fellowship in the church hall. We thank Metropolitan Joseph for visiting us and sharing his life and pastoral wisdom.
